Potential Opening Sequence Soundtracks

In order to enhance the intriguing nature of our opening sequence, it is essential the correct soundtracks are applied.

        Factors
  • Must give clear indication of genre at certain scenes.
  • Must allow general mood to be sensed through sound.
  • Must enhance climactic features of the scene.
  • Must adhere to the typical conventions of the genre.
Due to the fact that we are prohibited from the usage of copyrighted music, I have used several sources in order to identify potential soundtracks for the scene.
It is also important to note that we are likely to use two different soundtracks in order to allow an effective transition to the climactic and more tense moments of the scene.

I feel this could be a potential soundtrack to use, (between 0:16 to 1:40) due to the fact that it has a primarily downbeat tune, which represents the life of the protagonist well. The music also is evidently building up to something, and this would suit our genre as well as opening sequence due to the fact that we are essentially building up to a climactic scene.

Similarly to the other soundtrack, the downbeat tune provokes a depressive attitude from the protagonist due to the focus on him. There are also several strands of this soundtrack which help to build up to the dramatic climax. However, I feel the fact that the only suitable section of this soundtrack (0:14-0:56) is too short, therefore it is difficult if we were to intend on applying it on the scene.

It is likely that the chosen soundtrack will be similar to one of these soundtracks or will be one of these soundtracks. This is due to the fact that our group are aiming at a downbeat soundtrack, producing several hints of a climactic ending.

The soundtrack will be non diagetic due to the fact that it will not be suitable within the scene. Diagetic sound effects such as an alarm clock being rung and gunshots will be included in order to enhance the intriguing intentions of the scene.
