Opening Sequence Filming #2

Today we continued the filming of our opening sequence with the filming of the scenes that are set to take place within the house. The short scene at the beginning of the main character getting out of bed has been filmed in several shots, giving us a variety of options when it comes to editing the film, in order to see how it is best presented.

We also filmed the scene within the bathroom, where the main character is seen performing several every day actions, such as brushing teeth, turning on the shower, flushing the toilet. We feel that displaying these scenes in a fast paced editing motion will be effective in emphasizing the repetitive nature of this conventional teenagers life as he faces another day.

We hope to continue filming soon, with several scenes yet to be completed, such as the scene where the main confrontation actually takes place, which will provide strong narrative enigma. But overall, we feel that good progress is being made in the overall process of filming the footage that is required to make a strong opening sequence.

The main problems we have faced as a group include arguments over the ordering of our storyboard. We are still unsure over the use of a narrator, as well as the potential circled narrative to the opening sequence. This would be effective as it emphasizes an idea that the teenagers life is going round in circles, before a strange event occurs within his life. However in order to implement this it is likely to be difficult and it may not fit in with our intentions to make the opening sequence very sharp in terms of its pace.
